The Five Mage Maze

So your players think they are great wizards, or that they could be? Give them a go with the Five Mage Maze where an evil counterpart discovers their potential and decides a preemptive strike is the best defense.

5 wizards are teleported to a dungeon where they find etched on the wall the following passage. 

          “You all are chosen since you have great potential in magic. You cannot be allowed to go down the magical path to be more and more powerful. Thus you shall be imprisoned forever. Should you manage to leave this room you will find yourself in a maze designed to destroy you in the most horrific ways possible, so do not try and leave this room. Even if you do, I will be waiting to deal with you at the end of it all.”

The Five Mage Maze is a PbtA, hex/dungeon crawl, one-shot game inspired by Dungeon World with modified dice results. Your players will pass through the dungeon hexes to meet their captor and overcome them. Yet while they do so they will fumble and lose spells as they fail their dice rolls. With 20 different fumble effects and 20 different hexes you can generate your dungeon on the go and provide a different game play in every session.
